So fucking sad :(

I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON BUT THIS IS THE SADDEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN omg.

^^^^^

its the end of the help„„„„„

You is smart, you is kind, you is important…

Oh my God sobbing.

Viola Davis: my heart goes out to you.

I didn’t really have any desire to read this book until my mom started listening to it on Audible. I ended up right next to her phone every time she had it on, it’s a really beautiful story. I still need to see the movie.

i’m basically never ever going to watch or read this because it’s just

ergh

a white lady steals a black maid’s life story, earns millions?

also “Cooper also criticized her for comparing the character’s skin color to a cockroach.”

also a bunch of other criticisms

it just doesnt sit right with me

I was actually just finishing reading this when the story behind the lawsuit hit and it made me feel very uncomfortable. I sat down to talk to the person I’d borrowed it from about the controversy and the criticisms and they were rather “what does it matter if it was a good story”. I was a little horrified since they were an artist and it’s only drilled into us the importance of IP and that they too would be personally affected.

It was a good book, but I chose not to watch the movie, and if I’d known at the time what I would later I doubt I would have read it at all.
