Oh good christ
Apparently our ongoing legacy of colonialism and genocide makes great advertising fodder.
Jesus Christ BBC what the fuck is wrong with you? First Blind Banker, now this?
You are aware it’s 2012?

OH I hadn’t thought of that! I had seen some “ughs” and stuf in regard to this but I wasn’t sure why? I get why people have a problem with it now.

Yeahhhh, BBC America, you have kind of a problematic history with regards to “we claim this space, now it’s ours”-ing. The last time you came here and said that, it didn’t turn out great for the people who were already living here..

As somebody from a (former) Dominion [read: New Zealand], I love this ad. It’s brilliant! Some days it’s actually okay to laugh at historic events as being kind of dumb. That’s what they’re doing. :3

NO.
No one can ever joke about anything.

“please dont joke about some war that happened over 200 years ago its rlly offensive!!!!!!!!!!”

dear lord tumblr, dear lord.

i come from the country that was fucking populated with the criminals from england and i laughed, suck it up

I always love the “they came and ruined things until we kicked them out and made them better” argument despite the fact you know, that injustice still continues all throughout the world. Also that slavery lasted in America an extra 30 years than it would have if it had still been under English rule. Which is another example of how we can simplify facts and not acknowledge that it’s a complicated issue. P.s. Jokes will be made, people will laugh… they haven’t actually invaded your country.
